Improving municipal services in Gurjaani municipality

Center for Training and consultancy (CTC), through the sub grant program, supported local Civil Society Organisations in all eight municipalities of Kakheti in order to contribute improvements of local public services.

In Gurjaani Municipality, the local organization “Women from the Region for Development of Society” worked for 1 year to promote the improvement of provision of municipal services in the field of tourism. Within the framework of the project, a memorandum of cooperation was signed and an Inter-sectoral Cooperation Platform was established. The platform unites local self-government managements, local businesses and local CSOs. A number of meetings were held within the platform to discuss the needs of local businesses and plan relevant municipal budget programs. In addition, 151 local businesses operating in tourism sector were identified and detailed information regarding their services and contacts were collected. The list and description of local service providers were publicly published and was also provided to the Gurjaani Municipality to publish on their web page.

In parallel, the organisation assessed quality of the municipal services using the Municipal Services Quality Assessment Toolkit (MUSQAT)  and developed Gurjaani Municipal Services Quality Assessment Report. They also monitored 2-year Municipal Services Improvement Action Plan of Gurjaani municipality and produced the monitoring report.

The grant program was implemented with the financial support of the European Union in the framework of the project: “Municipal Services Quality Assessment Tool” (MUSQAT).
